Backpacking? Need to rent Bear Vaults? Look no further: Troop 15 has what you need!
More and more wilderness backpacking areas are requiring backpackers to carry their own bear vaults. Rather than spend $70 a pop on a vault, you can rent them from Troop 15 in San Anselmo.
For $5 for a weekend or $10 for a week, with a $20 refundable deposit to ensure they return clean and in good shape, Troop 15 will provide you with a BearVault BV500, the lightest and largest bear vault available. We successfully used these on a 4 day trek down the Lost Coast and found them to be capable of holding all our food and smellables. Plus, when the lid is screwed on completely, they work great as a camp stool, too! Even if the area you’re going to doesn’t require them, they are a great option to hanging bear bags as they’ll keep all critters out of your food and you don’t need to spend the time rigging up a bag.
If you’re affiliated with a Scouting organization & would like to rent up to a dozen bear vaults, please email Matthew Greer.
